Then on Saturday I went with three of the American families in the building, two US Marines, and one intern (from Atlanta) for the US Consulate to San Margherita. This coastal town, about 2 hours away is nestled in a harbor, surrounded by mountains. I visited here a few weeks back on my own but was happy to spend some time by the Mediteranean again.

Since the beach is rocky, we rented lounge chairs and there was a good bit for the kids to do there. We did some swimming but the water was very chilly.
Walking around the city.....
A monument to someone er other
I love how the green shutter, window, and even window boxes are painted onto the side of this building and the front, real windows match perfectly.
The Marines and intern and I ate pizza at a quaint little cafe on the water. The pizza in Italy, as expected, is phenominal...thin crust, so much flavor in the sauce and such fresh toppings.
One of the many beautifully designed mansions along the water.
Portifino, a famous, yatch/ resort destinatino for those rolling in the mullah was only a few mintues away. We drove through the town to see the azure waters and ginormous yatchs.
